Help Recruitee to be scalable & in control throughout 2021 and beyond


Your Mission

As a Business Controller, your main mission is to improve processes, the planning & control cycle and reporting. And by doing so helping Recruitee to become more scalable for growth. You’ll be reporting to the Finance Director and work closely with the other Finance members and the heads of departments. You are all about numbers, analysis, curiosity, efficiency, and getting things done. Taking ownership of projects, working with people from different disciplines, and using your advanced Excel and modelling skills are things that you are comfortable with.


About the team

As a Business Controller, you’ll be part of the Finance team. Our mission is to implement scalable processes to help Recruitee grow while having efficient and effective controls in place. The Finance team is currently focusing on accounting and various projects to scale processes. And we love to welcome a Business Controller who is dedicated to projects, who can support in achieving our goals quicker and making our processes scalable and efficient, who can support in business cases within the organization and set up and improve our Financial Planning & Control cycle. As a Business Controller, you’ll have a lot of freedom to come up with and prioritize your projects.


Your 12-month Journey

The first 3 months you will spend focusing on learning everything about Recruitee: understand the product and the organization. You will be working closely with the Finance Director from day one and given the opportunity to take on the first projects to optimize processes. Examples of projects are improving the process around purchases done via credit cards or improve revenue and cash flow processes/forecasting using our new to implement subscription management system.


After 3 months you will have taken responsibility and ownership of certain projects and start building a bottom-up budget (so far only top-down), and reporting per department that you can discuss with each department head.


After 1 year you will own the planning & control cycle, will understand the Recruitee business completely, challenge the head of departments in their cost efficiency and initiate new ideas for efficiency or strategic projects. You will continue in improving processes, making everything as efficient and effective as possible and set up controls to be ready for an external audit.

What you’ll do:
  • Improve processes such as credit card purchases, implementation of subscription management system, check month-end procedures, reporting analysis

  • Build processes for scalable and auditable future

  • Improve monthly reporting by integrating consolidated numbers

  • Implement and manage the planning & control cycle

  • Build bottom-up budget for each department and create reports for department heads

  • Challenge heads of departments in their cost efficiency and support in building business cases

  • Create forecasting flow during the year

  • Create cash flow forecasts

  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and reports from scratch

  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager during month-end close

Job requirements

What you’ll bring to Recruitee:

  • a Master degree in Accounting, Control or Business Administration

  • 3-4 years of experience in a Business Controller role

  • Excellent Excel skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong communication skills: you dare to challenge the business and know how to convince others

  • Eager to learn and curious about business and processes and love changes

  • Easy understanding of complex processes (connect dots easily) and always looking for ways to make them more efficient and effective

  • Can see the greater picture without losing eye for detail

  • Knowledge of reporting Guidelines

  • Experience with external audits from the audited company perspective

  • KPI driven and very analytic

  • Experience in managing the Planning & Control cycle (e.g., creating budgets, forecasts, analysis)

  • You are tech-savvy and love finding your way around new tools

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of SaaS companies

  • Experience with Sales Tax in US
